The School organized some undergraduates to go to Baiguoshu Village, Enshi City from March 24 to 25 to carry out the activity of “Data Helps Agriculture, Music Builds Dreams”.

Jiang Wu, Associate Dean of our School, Jinlong Shang, Deputy Secretary of CYLC SIM Committee, and 12 undergraduates participated in the activity.

On March 24, the students and teachers went to Baiguoshu Elementary School in Bajiaodong Township to assist in the second part of “Story and Song--Music into the Countryside” activity. This activity relied on the platform of Rural Jolly Meet--A Comprehensive Digital Service Platform for Rural Culture and Tourism, cut into the rural culture and tourism from the perspective of culture and public welfare, explored a new model of "music+stories+role models", empowered the construction of digital villages, and conveys energy of positive, unremitting and courageous struggle to the children.

After the activity, the students visited the Baiguoshu Village E-commerce Poverty Alleviation Center, one of the Wuhan University poverty alleviation projects. They learned how to use the new generation of information technology to achieve rural prosperity, and to form a benign development model of “products go out and people come in” by means of agricultural products e-commerce, products charity sale and digital rural culture and tourism construction. In the evening, Story and Song Team moved the stage from indoor to outdoor, lit a bonfire and sang touching songs. They brought a spiritual and cultural feast to the villagers of Baiguoshu.

On the morning of March 25, the students came to Service Center of Baiguoshu Village. Xianzhen Zheng, Resident CPC Secretary in Baiguoshu Village dispatched by Wuhan University, introduced a number of achievements made by Baiguoshu Village with the help of Wuhan University. Accompanied with Xianzhen Zheng, the students strolled along the road to further experience the rural landscape of Baiguoshu Village. The sakura trees beside the road were donated by Wuhan University, and the pink flowers connected the sincere and beautiful friendship between the two sides.

Later, the students visited a well-known local tea enterprise. While tasting Enshi tea with unique flavor, everyone learned about the development history of the tea enterprise and the quality and ingenuity behind it in the explanation of the head of the enterprise. The enterprise head led the students to visit the tea production workshop. The complicated tea-making process and exquisite mechanical instruments opened their eyes. After coming out of the workshop, the students came to a tea garden to visit and study, and experienced the fun of picking tea leaves for themselves.

The students deepened the understanding of rural culture, rural economy and rural digitalization via visiting, discussions and practices, and further strengthened their belief and determination to give full play to their professional expertise and join in the construction of the motherland.
