On April 29, the final of the 13th Wuhan University Freshmen Debate Competition was held in the Multi-functional Lecture Hall of the No. 5 Teaching Building. Two 2022-grade students debate teams of our School had a fierce championship battle. The opposing side won the championship, and Yuxuan Guan, the opposing side's fourth debater, a 2022-grade undergraduate student of our School, won the title of Best Debater.


The topic of the final debate was Young Generation Should Take More Advantages or Challenges. Faced with this topic closely related to youth, the debaters of the two teams both gave their own answers: the positive side thought that “take advantages” emphasizes the inheritance and development of the law of current issues, is a ladder for contemporary young people to move from campus to society, is a good way for working hard and being adapt to society; the opposing side thought that “take challenges” emphasizes the attitude and the insistence on one's enthusiasm, which enables young people to be brave in venture, grow up in adversity, find the true self and become the person they want to be.

In the next session, the debaters launched a fierce debate based on the positions of both sides, from the blindness of taking advantages to the passiveness of facing challenges, from insisting on the inner voice to listening to the call of the society, from bravely creating to innovating in inheritance, showing the attitude of youth and sparking the fireworks of speculation, which reflected the unique thinking of the SIM students on the topic of youth and the continuous exploration of the meaning of youth.

The 13th Wuhan University Freshmen Debate Competition started from March 18, held semi-finals on April 22, and held finals on April 29. A total of 62 debating teams from 32 departments and schools participated in the competition. The heavy trophy in the hands is not only a symbol of winning or losing for the students, but also an affirmation of the ability, and it is a reward for countless days and nights of hard work.
