Recently, the four-day 2023 Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM) came to an end.

Undergraduates of our School achieved good results in the MCM/ICM as followings:

Zhuoxin Liu and Wangshu Zhu, directed by Professor Yang Zhao, won the first prize.

Rui Luo, Yuxiang Lyu and Boyan Guo, directed by Professor Yang Zhao, won the second prize.

Yuwei Liu, directed by Professor Yiming Zhao, won the second prize.

In addition, the interdisciplinary team of Yanyu Ren, won the nomination of the grand prize, and the interdisciplinary team of Qian Ning, Yu 'ang Lu, Xinlan Wei, Haowei Li and Yujing Li won the first and second prizes.

The Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM) are international contests for high school students and college undergraduates. They are organized by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP), and sponsored by Mathematical Association of America, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, American Statistical Association and American Mathematical Society. The MCM/ICM are the largest and most extensive global mathematical modeling contests, and have the title of Olympics in mathematical modeling.

The contests require teams of up to three students address one of the six problems choices to complete all the processes from model construction, solution, verification, optimization, analysis to paper writing in English within four days, which is a comprehensive evaluation of students' big data analysis ability, English writing ability, innovative thinking ability and teamwork ability.

In 2023, there were 20,858 teams and over 60,000 college students from 36 countries and regions including China, the United States, Russia, Canada and Australia, etc. participated in the contests.
