Recently, Jiawei Liu, a 2020-grade doctoral student majoring in information science of our School, was honored 2023 Alibaba Outstanding Research Intern in recognition of his excellent work in the project Research on Information Retrieval and Content Security Algorithms.

Jiawei Liu's tutor is Professor Wei Lu, and during the internship, the enterprise instructor was Yangyang Kang, an algorithm expert of Alibaba DAMO Academy. At present, Jiawei Liu has published 7 articles in CCF-A/B international conferences and journals such as ACM CCS, AAAI, SIGIR, EMNLP, IP&M and JASIST, and was awarded the 2022 ACM CCS Best Paper Nomination. Since entering Wuhan University, Jiawei Liu has paid attention to learning in practice and applied what he has learned to practice. During his internship at Alibaba DAMO Academy, he conducted research on switching of human-machine dialogue, content security, robustness detection and other aspects, and his achievements have applied in many business scenarios within the company, resulting in positive business value.
Alibaba Group has hundreds of research interns from universities all over the world, and its annual Outstanding Research Intern selection is a fierce competition. This selection invited a number of authoritative experts in the field to carefully evaluate the applicants' work from the perspectives of academic innovation, business contribution and academic influence. Jiawei Liu stood out from many interns and won the honor with other 14 students from famous universities such as Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology of China, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
