On April 4, Honghui Chen, CPC Secretary and Director of Health Commission of Hubei Province, came to Wuhan University to investigate the application research of big data and artificial intelligence in the prevention of major chronic diseases led by our School. Qizhu Tang, Vice President of Wuhan University, Baoliang Song, Vice President of Wuhan University, attended the investigation meeting.

Qizhu Tang pointed out in his speech that major chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease have become an important threat to the sound development of China's economy and society. Hubei province has built a "Hubei model" of national disease prevention with the "323 attack", which has achieved fruitful results in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases. As a first-level comprehensive university with complete disciplines, Wuhan University has first-class experts, general practice hospitals, medical education and medical system services, and has significant interdisciplinary and resource allocation advantages in the prevention of major chronic diseases with big data and artificial intelligence. Qizhu Tang hoped that we could help the prevention of chronic diseases via the cooperation between local government and Wuhan University.

Quan Lu, Director of the Department of Information Management Science of our School, reported the investigation on the prevention of major chronic diseases in Hubei Province and optimized the preventive countermeasures. He suggested that strengthening the prevention of chronic diseases in advance, expanding the scope of diseases and highlighting the characteristics of Hubei region; Optimize the existing health and medical big data center and public health emergency management platform, improve the efficiency of data governance and deepen data utilization; Optimize the existing "Healthy Hubei" public service platform, improve the level of service intelligence, strengthen practical application, and carry out pilot projects for the prevention of disability and dementia of the elderly as soon as possible.

Honghui Chen put forward requirements for strengthening the application of big data and artificial intelligence in the prevention of major chronic diseases in Hubei Province. He said that the Health Commission of Hubei Province should pay close attention to the implementation of the relevant instructions of the Hubei provincial Committee, work closely with Wuhan University, orient to the major needs of the country, protect people's health and life, further implement the "323 attack", carry out the analysis and improvement of big data, promote the pilot projects of disability and dementia prevention, hypertension and diabetes prevention for the elderly, and form Hubei characteristics.

During the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Baoliang Song's proposal on Strengthening the Application of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in the Prevention of Major Chronic Diseases attracted great attention from the leaders of the Hubei Provincial Committee. Baoliang Song pointed out that using big data and artificial intelligence to prevent major chronic diseases is an important measure to implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC in the health management of chronic diseases. According to the requirements of Hubei Provincial Committee, Wuhan University should integrate relevant research institutions and research forces to contribute to the promotion of big data and artificial intelligence technology to empower the prevention of major chronic diseases in Hubei Province.
